Hey there!
I'm Madeline Rae, an international journalist, idea generator and master of public health.
If you're looking to cross borders, industries or both, I'm the ace you'll want up your sleeve. Journalist by trade. Curious by birth. Coffee addict by default. Idea generating propelled by insomnia. Research driven by utter nerdiness.
Madeline Rae, MPH
I have been a professional journalist for over twelve years. I helped expand an international relations magazine in Boston and was later selected to start the editorial department at Weather Underground, a weather data company. There, I explained how climate change was affecting communities around the world and helped explain the forecast. I’ve written about meteorology through the eyes of a skateboarder using the dew point in their daily forecast to predict their speed on the half-pipe; designed inclusive questionnaires for chiropractic and dental practitioners to safely and accurately identify victims of sex trafficking; and interviewed experts in architecture on how intentional design can be both eco-friendly and promote healthy, active lifestyles.
In grad school, I wrote my thesis 3D printed prosthetics in conflict areas and developing countries. I spent most of my time writing this in local craft breweries, and later acknowledged them when the thesis was published by a peer-reviewed journal. I am trained in reporting from crisis zones and certified to pour the perfect pint of Guinness.
I've lived and worked as a reporter in Ireland, Togo and Uganda. I spent time in places like Jerusalem, Jordan, Palau, Micronesia, India, Italy, Mexico, Cambodia, Belgium and beyond, picking up innumerable tales and bits of cultural history along the way. I grew up on the red carpets of Disney and Marvel premieres, often spilling the condiments from my street cart hot dog on my dress...so I've got range, plus a pretty wicked coffee addiction.
